Evaira: The Future Phenomenon
So today, I met Ryan Cole, an inventor who claimed to have invented a time machine. I saw him turn it on, and enter it, but once he did, the machine started to spark and smoke. He disappeared into the machine – which promptly broke. The inventor had disappeared, and I never knew if the machine killed him, just transported him elsewhere, or really did take him back in time. I collected the machine – perhaps one of my scientist friends might be able to examine it further and get the rest of the story.
“So,” Evaira said, putting down the diary, “what do you think of time travel?”

The Creek County Sunday Flea Market is a pretty normal flea market, at least, for the most part. But every few weeks, there’s this strange man that runs a stand at the flea market where he sells what he claims are magical talismans. Charlatans selling that sort of stuff is commonplace in flea markets, but I’ve heard more than one report of talismans bought from him actually working. He’s obviously worth a visit. From what I hear, he always wears this long red robe when he runs his booth.

But in light of that, I figured this was not just a coincidence. Maybe if it happened twice, but three times, no, there’s something more to it. Maybe if it wasn’t only because fifteen variables all fell perfectly into place. I used to write things off as coincidence a bit too often – I’ll have to thank my old friend Bradley for teaching me that lesson. I wonder how he’s doing now in the San Francisco PD. Regardless…
Evaira remembered reading that diary passage while listening to the news report.

Note to self: do some more research into superstition. There are all these odd things that people believe bring good luck or bad luck, like throwing salt over your shoulder or breaking a mirror, respectively. Now I’m not superstitious myself – most of it is nonsense, but after all that I’ve seen, I’m beginning to wonder if there really is such a thing as luck, and if there are really things that can affect it. Nothing as silly as a broken mirror, but maybe something else.
“So,” Bill asked, putting down the diary, “what do you make of Liza’s thoughts about superstition?”

I spent the last couple weeks with an elusive cult called the Children of Athelias. When I met the Children of Athelias, they were incredibly nice to me. They practically treated me like their queen, minus the responsibility, and they called me their “Chosen One”. During my stay, they made sure I had everything I ever wanted or needed. I tell you, a girl really could get used to being treated like that. However,

I heard an interesting news report. In the outskirts of Los Angeles, there was a bus accident, the bus was destroyed in a fire, and there were no survivors. To the police, it looked like an open and shut case, and yet the article mentions somebody seeing one of the victims later that day very much alive, well after the accident. It sounds like it could make a neat story, at least, if it isn’t just the hallucination of a loved one in denial.
“I found this entry in Liza’s diary,” Evaira said, and she read the entry to the others, “It sounds familiar, doesn’t it?”
“Indeed it does,” Bill

I'm a simple writer of stories, programmer, papercraft builder, and gamer from the Philadelphia area. You can find more of my stories, poetry, along with personal reflection posts on my writing experiences, on my blog.
Also, feel free to check out my alt account for my papercrafting
At long last, I'm finally getting some new stories up. A new Evaira was just posted earlier today (https://whiterakogis.wordpress.com/2017/09/17/evaira-the-typewriter-phenomenon/) and is the first of the last three stories from Volume 2, which will be going up on the site over the next three weeks. I'll be posting them on DeviantArt too, but on a one week delay.
I tried to do too much too quickly for Evaira, ended up burning myself out, which led to the slump I had. I'm hoping I'll be a bit more active now, but I'm not committing to any schedules, so a burnout like this won't happen again. While I am planning an Evaira Volume 3, I will n
Yeah, this account is semi-dormant.
I'm trying to make it a bit more active, but even though this is supposed to be my main account, my papercraft account ~RakogisPapercraft (https://www.deviantart.com/rakogispapercraft) is currently more my main account, as I've been quite big on papercraft lately, and I've been in a nasty writing slump for the past couple years (even my blog has been rarely updated).
If you want to interact with me, you should watch me there.
Though the last three Evaira volume two stories are in the works - no fooling. They had to go through multiple rewrites, and I had to start two of them completely from scratch after the original ideas weren't holding my in
How long have you been on DeviantArt?
A bit over a year with an active account, but I've been lurking since like 2007-2008.
What does your username mean?
White Rakogis is a nickname used by a main character in my Swogprille series of stories, which I really hope to someday share. As this character was always role-played by me when I played the original game it was based on, it has kind of become a nickname, and is the screen name I use most everywhere.
In the Swogprille series, a rakogis is an extremely rare and powerful type of dragon.
